November Favourites

Hello Internet Friends.

Merry Christmas! Welcome to my favourite month of the year. I love everything about December. Christmas is on it’s way, summer has arrived, people are more cheerful and its party season.

November was a great month. I finished my undergraduate studies, spent a lot of time at the beach and moved back in with my family. Okay, that last part wasn’t so great but otherwise I’ve had a blast.

This month I have been loving my new purchase, this mimco bag. I have always wanted one but never had the funds. I decided that once I’d finished my degree that I would buy it as a ‘congratulations to me’ present. I’m so glad that I did. I cannot wait for this party season to use it more regularly. I love that it is black, therefore can go with everything, and I am loving the rose gold hardware, it just adds that extra detail.

One of my favourite thing about the warmer weather is I am able to just throw on a pair of sandals to complete an outfit. I absolutely love these sandals from Rubi Shoes. They are a classic colour and style, and seem to go with everything that I put together.

For my birthday in August my family bought me all the books from the Call the Midwife series. I am in love with the television show and as a midwife myself find them very interesting. I have read the first two books in the past week and I’m really enjoying them.

I went to see Mockingjay Part One with my family this month. I really enjoyed it (hence why it is in my favourites). I thought it was a great adaptation, just as the first two movies have been. I’m planning on doing a Review and Reflect post on it in the coming weeks so there will be more thoughts on the film in that. I just wanted to say here that I thought it was really good.

This month I’ve been rewatching the early seasons of Criminal Minds. Even though I generally remember who the killer is. Its been interesting to rewatch and really pay attention to how they get to that conclusion. I’m really getting sucked into the mystery.

This month I’ve been going with no makeup a lot. My skin has finally cleared up (thanks to the Proactiv+ System) and I’m feeling much more confident to go makeup free. I also think my improved skin may have something to do with the fact that I am not wearing as much makeup. Weird cycle, right?

Until next time. x

One Year Anniversary

Hello Internet Friends.

One year ago I started this little blog ‘Caitie Lou’ and I cannot believe that there is now almost 100 people reading it.

I would like to thank you all for reading my posts and for all the support I’ve got from the blogging community.

I know I don’t have the best blogging routing (or any routine at all) and I am not going to make any promises to improve this.

However, I’ve got some really exciting things happening over the next few months and I cannot wait to share them all with you.

Until next time. x

Review: Proactiv+

Hello Internet Friends.

I mentioned in my October Favourites that I had recently bit the bullet and purchased the Proactiv+ system.

And I love it.

Over the past 10 years I have tried nearly every product with every different key ingredient in the hope that it would clear up my skin. After years of experimenting I found that Benzoyl Peroxide works best for my skin. So I decided to give the Proactiv+ system a go.

And while I try to be as natural as possible with what I put on my skin, my acne caused me so much trauma and embarrassment that I would try anything just to see some results.

The Proactiv+ System, while harsh, is a miracle product for me.

It has been amazing for my skin. In just a few months my skin has cleared up significantly. Don’t get me wrong, its not perfect. But the spots I get now are just little red spots not those angry cystic pimples that cause pain and embarrassment.

Probably TMI, but I naturally breakout around my chin and cheeks at that time of the month. This past month however all I got was  one single spot on my cheek. And after years of painful chin spots, I am so grateful to have found a product that works.

I have now found the confidence to leave the house without makeup, which is not something I’ve been able to do in about 5 years.

I tried to find a before photo for a before and after but I cannot find a photo of me not wearing makeup to coverup my spots.

I’m so grateful that I am able to wear makeup for fun, and experiment with it because I want to, not because I feel like I have to.

Until next time. x

Disclaimer: The Proactiv+ system is expensive and may not work for everybody. Be sure before making any expensive purchases. Not a sponsored post.

Positive Vibes #9: Two Weeks

Hello Internet Friends.

I am on countdown.

It is only two weeks until I finish placement and I am over the moon to be on the home stretch.

I’ve spent a lot of this placement reflecting on how far I have come in the past few years – both personally and professionally.

Four years ago I used to hate using the telephone, avoided talking to people in shops and absolutely hated myself.

Now, while I am still not  perfect, I have so much more confidence in everything that I do.

I think this down to a couple of things.

1. I have found my passion – being a nurse/midwife is one of the hardest, most difficult but most rewarding career I could have chosen but it fills me with a sense of purpose that I am glad I have found.

2. Age – I think getting through my teenage years and now being a young adult has really helped me gain the confidence and poise that I have always wanted. Also, being older I seem to care less what other people think of me and are happier just being me.

The morale of this installment of positive vibes is to hang in there. Things might be tough at the moment but if you work hard and keep a positive mindset, things should work out.

Until next time. x

Fashion Inspo: Taylor Swift

Hello Internet Friends.
I have a major woman crush on Taylor Swift. (You can read here what I think about her new album).
Her style this year has been unbelievable. 100% on trend.
One thing that I love about TSwift is that her fashion style can be replicated on the cheap.
Being a uni student, I don’t have much money to spend on expensive clothing but love to be inspired by Taylor’s outfits.
I’ve spent some time putting together some of Taylor’s outfits on Polyvore for much cheaper than I assume she paid for hers.

As TSwift so aptly says ‘we never go out of style’

Review: Bourjois Little Pot Blush

Hello Internet Friends.

I’ve found my new favourite blush.

The Bourjois Little Pot Blush in Rose Ambre is amazing. Literally the perfect colour for spring.

I’m in love with the colour, it just seems to suit my complexion perfectly. Also, the pigmentation is perfect. You can put on the smallest amount and get a great colour pop, or build it up for a really dramatic look.

This blush is also relatively inexpensive for how good it is.

I’m definitely going to be buying some more from this colour range.

Until next time. x

Hello Internet Friends.

Yes, I know this is two posts in one day. I felt like I had to make up for my absence.

I really want to talk about how good Taylor Swift’s new album 1989 is.

I am no music expert by any means, but if I can listen to a whole album on repeat for a week and not get sick of it, that is a great album in my book.

Every single song is catchy and different from the one before.

Love. Love. Love

My five fave songs from the album are:

1. I Wish You Would

2. Welcome to New York

3. Blank Space

4. Out of the Woods

5. Style

Also, can we talk about gorgeous Taylor Swift is. I am totally in love with her style – both fashion and makeup.

Love. Love. Love.

Like seriously, how effortless is her style.

Until next time. x
